The diversity of museums in South Tyrol
Tradition, culture, art and much more
There are so many museums in South Tyrol that you will not be able to explore them all during your holiday at the Residence Mathilda. That’s why we would like to offer you a small selection here, which in our opinion are the museums most worth fans of culture and nature seeing in the direct vicinity and further afield.
The Messner Mountain Museums (MMM) at Castel Juval/Schloss Juval (15 minutes) and in Solda all’Ortles/Sulden am Ortler (40 minutes) are probably the most famous museums in South Tyrol. The archeoParc in Val Senales/Schnalstal (30 minutes), an archaeological interactive museum with a view over the spot where Ötzi was found is just as exciting for adults and children as the South Tyrolean Archaeological Museum in Bolzano/Bozen (50 minutes), where you can see Ötzi, the Ice Man, live.
There are even two museums in Sluderno/Schluderns in South Tyrol (20 minutes): at Castel Coira/Churburg in Sluderno/Schluderns you set off on a historical journey of discovery into the 12th to 16th century and can admire Count Trapp’s extensive private chambers of weapons and the Val Venosta/Vinschgau museum displays numerous permanent and special exhibitions on archaeological, cultural and social topics from the past and present day.
