Family holiday in Val Venosta/Vinschgau
Over hill and dale
Exceedingly sunny Val Venosta/Vinschgau is not only worth a visit at any time of the year, it is also ideal for a very diverse family holiday in South Tyrol. With its extensive open spaces in nature, meadows, and forests this region offers the most beautiful open spaces for children to have fun, develop, and let off steam. Countless hiking trails, theme and cycle paths, playgrounds, climbing gardens, swimming pools, ski, snowboard, and toboggan runs provide endless fun and action.
Adventure for the young and young at heart
Adventure for all ages is promised by the high-rope course, Ötzi Rope Park in Val Senales/Schnalstal with 11 courses and about 150 platforms. A giant swing also makes your stomach tingle. The Murmele via ferrata in Val Martello/Martelltal is a sporting challenge for children from around 10 years of age who are experienced climbers. Some unbeatable highlights are excursions to castles and palaces, for example, the Churburg in Schluderns, which is one of the best-preserved castles in South Tyrol and boasts the largest private armoury.
The guided tour through a high medieval castle and its enchanting arcades not only makes children's eyes shine. Finally, a visit to Juval Castle, one of the six Messner Mountain Museums in South Tyrol, crowns every family holiday in Val Venosta/Vinschgau.
Art and Culture
The fact that Val Venosta/Vinschgau is rich in history, culture, and art is demonstrated by the many picturesque churches, chapels, and monasteries which are well worth a visit, not only for art enthusiasts: St. Proculus in Naturns with the oldest frescoes in the entire German-speaking area or the Marienberg Monastery near Burgeis with its museum, ‘Ora et labora’, which opened in 2007, are more than worth seeing.
