Silandro/Schlanders is Val Venosta’s/Vinschgau’s main town and is worth a visit during any season. Numerous events are organised all year round, such as Christmas markets, antique markets, concerts and theatre events, which provide variety and top entertainment.
Silandro’s/Schlanders’ village centre is situated at 721 m at the base of the scree on whose slopes fruit trees and vines thrive brilliantly as a result of the sunny location. The Gothic parish church of Mariä Himmelfahrt, whose church tower is the highest in Tyrol at 97 m is worth seeing.
Silandro/Schlanders was mentioned in documents for the first time in 1077 but the origins of the village date back much further. Magnificent historical buildings have sprung up in Silandro/Schlanders over the course of the centuries: Castello Schlandersburg/Schloss Schlandersberg, various residences as well as monasteries and churches take you on a little journey through the past and captivate you with their unique charm.
The numerous shops in Silandro’s/Schlanders’ pedestrian zone, which is ideal for a leisurely stroll and shopping day, invite you to browse and then enjoy a good cappuccino, an ice cream in the village’s best ice cream parlour or visit one of the various different events in Silandro/Schlanders – a total pleasure all round!
